Eidf will execute a 2.6 MW self-consumption plant for grupo halcón cerámicas

Grupo Halcón Cerámicas, a leader in the production of ceramic tiles, is making progress in its environmental sustainability strategy in order to reduce its impact on the environment. In addition to the heat recovery measures in ovens and dryers, the change to LED lighting and other complementary actions that allow a total energy saving of 8%, the company adds the installation of a photovoltaic plant for energy self- consumption at its headquarters located in Alcora (Castellón). The installation will have a capacity of 2.6 MW that will generate an annual production of 3,582 MWh, equivalent to the consumption of 1,248 homes. The facility will occupy an area of 12,304 m 2 on the roof.

The energy produced thanks to the capture of solar radiation from more than 4,800 implanted solar modules will allow it to cover 33% of its energy needs in the ceramic tile manufacturing process in the Alcora factory, which represents approximately 10% of the Group’s total consumption. The estimated saving in the annual electricity bill is 48%.

With this action, Halcón Cerámicas will be able to suppress 983 tons of CO 2 per year through the use of this energy source, thus reducing its carbon footprint, specifically direct or scope 2 emissions, which are those derived from electricity consumption. This decrease in emissions is equivalent to the planting of 8,955 trees.

Works will begin in the coming weeks and are expected to be completed in the fall. To undertake the project, Halcón Cerámicas has entrusted EiDF Solar, a specialist in self-consumption facilities for companies, which will be responsible for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the plant.
